    Mashirika, the most acclaimed theatre company in Rwanda, will be at USC to perform their powerful and vibrant production, Africa’s Hope, which explores the stories of Rwandan genocide survivors. In conjunction with their visit, members of Mashirika will share their techniques in play-building and conflict resolution in an intensive theatre workshop on art and transformation.

    Established in 1997, Mashirika is composed of artists from a variety of disparate cultures who were exiled in Uganda during the 1994 genocide. This core group of actors, dancers and musicians is dedicated to presenting workshops and plays exploring issues around collective trauma, conflict resolution, HIV/AIDS education, genocide healing and reconciliation.

    This 5-part workshop is designed to introduce Viterbi undergraduates to the purpose of a pursuing a PhD, and aid in their PhD application process. All Viterbi majors are invited to attend one or more workshops.

    As the GRE is taken by everyone applying to graduate school, not just engineers and scientists, the GRE does not require advanced math or verbal skills, so it is very similar to the SAT. We will take a practice GRE and score it.

The program also includes a campus tour and special presentations for transfer students about admission, financial aid, and transfer credit. In addition, Viterbi transfer counselors will be available for individual coursework advisement on a first-come, first-serve basis in the afternoon following the program (transcripts required for advisement).
